Woman Found With Cocaine Inserted in Body at JFK: Authorities
    U.S. Customs and Border Protection

A woman was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport this week for allegedly smuggling a half pound of cocaine in her body, authorities said.

Shekira Thompson was returning to the U.S. from Jamaica on Sunday when she was nabbed by Customs and Border Protection agents after an inspection, authorities said.

During questioning by customs agents, Thompson allegedly admitted having the powder inserted in her vagina, according to Border Protection. The cocaine has an estimated street value of about $10,000.

She will face state smuggling charges and will be prosecuted by Queens County District Court, authorities said.
