Police are looking for the man they say tried to rape a 22-year-old woman as she was leaving a Long Island Rail Road Station last week.

The woman was walking home from the LIRR station in Westbury at about 1:40 a.m. Wednesday when she was attacked from behind by a man in his late 40s near Post and Maple avenues, according to Nassau County police.

The man shoved the woman to the ground and tried to pull off her pants but was scared off by a bystander who saw the assault. He ran off on Maple Avenue.

The woman had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Anyone with information about the attacker is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
