Winter Chill, With Snow Flurries Possible, Expected to Cool Tri-State Over Next 48 Hours

After a spate of unseasonably warm weather that saw record-setting temperatures across the tri-state, residents are in for a taste of winter -- at least for 48 hours or so.

Temperatures Friday fell slowly from the 50s into the 40s as the wind increased from the northwest. Friday night will feature mainly clear skies, a gusty wind and lows in the 30s with wind chills making it feel more like the 20s.

The weekend will be dry, with the lone exception being the possibility of snow flurries -- yes, snow flurries -- Saturday, primarily in the hillier terrain north and west of the city.

Strong winds Saturday will become lighter Sunday, and it will feel much more comfortable outside by Sunday afternoon, though temperatures aren't expected to escape the mid-40s all weekend, which is more seasonable for this time of year, Storm Team 4 says.

Another warming trend begins next week with temperatures climbing back into the 50s Monday and Tuesday. Highs are likely to reach the 60s again by Wednesday and Thursday. The threat for rain returns mid-week, but Storm Team 4 expects Christmas Day to be relatively try -- and mild.
