    A 16-year-old boy died and another 16-year-old boy was treated for injuries after the two were found in a Long Island parking lot with gunshot wounds, police said.

    Officers responding to a 911 call found the two teens in a rear parking area on West Columbia Street in Hempstead around 5:48 p.m. on Wednesday, Hempstead police said.

    The teens were taken to the hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead, police said.

    The other boy was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound, according to police.

    Police didn’t immediately provide additional details about the shooting or release the name of the boy who died. An investigation is ongoing.
