Teen Pleads Innocent in Videotaped Beating Death of NJ Immigrant Dad

Victim never regained consciousness after vicious attack

A New Jersey teenager has pleaded innocent in the beating death of an immigrant during an attack which was allegedly videotaped by another youth.

A public defender entered the plea Friday on behalf of 18-year-old Khayri Williams-Clark, who was not in court.

He faces manslaughter charges in the death of 47-year-old Abelino Mazaniego, an El Salvador native who was sitting on a bench in Summit's downtown Promenade area Saturday night when he was attacked a group of teens.

Prosecutors say Mazaniego sustained severe head trauma and died Tuesday from his injuries. They say the attack appears to have been unprovoked.

A 17-year-old and a 19-year-old also have been charged in the case.
