2 Arrested in Home Delivery Package Thefts

A victim recognized car caught on surveillance video last week

Police on Long Island say they've arrested the men who were caught on surveillance video last week stealing packages from porches and doorsteps in a Suffolk County community.

Colby Fiedler, 19, and Vincenzo Francese, 19, were arrested at Fiedler's Lindenhurst home at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Suffolk County Police said. The men allegedly had five different delivery boxes addressed to other Lindenhurst homes.

Police had been investigating reports of package thefts in the last three weeks. One victim's surveillance video of the alleged thieves in action captured the getaway vehicle; another victim Tuesday observed a similar vehicle in the area and notified police.

Fiedler and Francese were charged with three counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Francese was additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Feb. 27.

Attorney information on the suspects was not immediately available.
