A 32-year-old New Jersey man has been arrested in connection with sexual ambushes in a span of several days last month in which two women were attacked from behind in New Jersey.
Manuel Tamay, of Palisades Park, was arrested Tuesday on sexual assault and attempted sexual assault charges in the attacks in the city earlier this month.
Prosecutors say the first attack was reported to police Sept. 10. In that case, a woman said she was followed from Broad Avenue to Second Street around 10:25 p.m. by a short man with a medium build. The man knocked her to the ground from behind and sexually assaulted her with his hands, according to prosecutors, before running off.
Another woman in Palisades Park told police she was attacked several days earlier by a man with a description similar to the suspect the woman in the Sept. 10 ambush described. The attack was also similar.
Neither victim was seriously hurt.
Tamay was remanded to the Bergen County jail. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
