A person was struck and killed on the New Jersey Turnpike while changing a tire on the side of the highway, police say.
The person was on the shoulder of the turnpike, near exit 15W, when a passing car hit the victim at around 4:30 p.m., according to state police.
Traffic is backed up as authorities investigate.
