Authorities say seven people have been arrested in a heroin trafficking investigation that spanned Pittsburgh, New York City, and Long Island.
Officials announced Monday that more than seven pounds of heroin worth roughly $1 million has been seized after a four-month investigation.
Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas says some of the heroin was "exceptionally deadly." It was three times more pure than what's typically found on the streets.
Officials say Victor McKeever ran the operation out of his Pittsburgh home. They say he used a stash house in Queens to try to distribute heroin elsewhere, including Freeport, New York.
Four people, including McKeever, have pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking charges.
McKeever's bond was set at $1 million last week. His attorney says he denies any wrongdoing.
