Tickets for Mets-Royals World Series Games at Citi Field Selling for More Than $1,000

Want to see the Mets vie for their first World Series title since 1986? It'll cost ya.

Tickets for games 3 and 4 and a potential Game 5 at Citi Field are going for an average of more than $1,000, according to the resale site SeatGeek. That puts seats among the most expensive ever seen for the World Series.

Tickets for the first game at the Queens stadium, on Friday, are going for an average of $1,128. For Game 4 on Halloween, tickets currently cost on average $1,089.

Tickets for a potential Game 5 are the most expensive of the bunch with an average resale price of $1,150. SeatGeek says that's the second-highest resale price for the Fall Classic since it began tracking ticket prices in 2010.

The only time tickets have soared higher was during the 2013 series between the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals. Average resale value during Game 6 at Fenway Park that year spiked as high as $1,175. But SeatGeek notes that if the Mets have a chance to clinch the series during Sunday's Game 5, tickets could easily top that previous high.

Mets fans might get a relative deal if you fly to Kansas City, however. Average prices for games 1 and 2 are hovering between $750 and $800. Ticket prices for potential games 6 and 7 weren't available Monday.

Scalpers aren't the only ones looking for a big payday off of the series, though. Re-election campaigns for Gov. Cuomo and Queens Rep. Grace Meng are also selling tickets for games 3 and 4, according to the New York Post.

Tickets from Cuomo's campaign are going for $5,500 and feature a pregame reception with the governor, while Meng's campaign are selling them for $2,500.

The starting face value of a World Series ticket is about $125.
