Awning Breaks 2-Year-Old Girl's 2-Story Fall From Window: NYPD

A 2-year-old girl tumbled out of a second-floor window in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon, but her fall was broken by an awning below, possibly saving her life, police said.

The toddler fell about five feet from the second floor of her Mill Basin home before hitting an awning, bouncing off, and falling another story to the ground, police said.

She was rushed to Kings County Hospital in serious condition, according to police. Her condition has since improved and she was last reported in stable condition.

Police are investigating, but at this point don't believe there was any criminal wrongdoing.
