NYPD Officer Pleads Not Guilty in Vermont to Drug Charge

A New York Police Department officer arrested for conspiring to distribute oxycodone in Vermont has pleaded not guilty in federal court in Burlington.

Andre Clarke of the Bronx — who has been an NYPD officer since 2002 — was arrested on Monday in Queens for conspiring to distribute oxycodone in Vermont from 2011 through June 2014.

A federal grand jury in Burlington handed down the multi-count indictment on July 7, charging Clarke, Michael Foreste and Dannis Hackney. Prosecutors say Clarke supplied oxycodone to Michael Foreste. He, in turn, supplied the pills to Dannis Hackney, who sold them in Burlington.

The 37-year-old Clarke appeared in U.S. District Court in Burlington on Wednesday.
