NJ Lightning Strike Kills 1, Injures 2

Last night's violent weather has took a deadly toll in New Jersey.

In Middletown, 49-year-old Anthony Forte was killed when a tree he was touching was struck by lightning.

Forte was part of small group of spectators watching as firefighters put out a fire across the street sparked by another lightning strike just minutes earlier.

Forte's sister says her brother was returning home from church when he stopped to look on.

"My brother Anthony was kind-hearted and caring to all who knew him," said his sister Mary Ann Dowd. "Going out of his way every day to help others was just a way of life for him. He was a man of great faith and was actually coming home frm St. Catherine's neighborhood church at the time of his faital injury. All who knew him were loved by him and loved him in return. He will be greatly missed."

Two others including a Middletown Township police officer were also injured.
