Man Used Machete to Slash, Injure Father in New Jersey : Prosecutors

A man accused of slashing his father with a machete has been charged with attempted murder.

Camden County prosecutors say 29-year-old James Rodgers also faces two weapons charges stemming from Monday's attack at the family's home in Lindenwold. But they haven't said what prompted it.

Police went to the home around 5:45 p.m. after someone called 911. They found the 61-year-old victim suffering from multiple slash wounds to his head and body.

Rodgers' father was flown to a hospital and remained there Tuesday. But further details on his condition have not been released.

Rodgers remains in custody pending a detention hearing. It wasn't known Tuesday if he has retained an attorney.
