Woman Left Children in Car to Fill Forged Prescription on Long Island: Cops

Police on Long Island say a 33-year-old woman tried to fill a forged prescription for the drug Percocet and left her children in her car while she was in the drugstore.

Nassau police say Cheryl Ann Shearer of Bayside, Queens was arrested Wednesday in the parking lot of a Walgreens in East Meadow.

Police say Shearer had been trying to fill forged prescriptions all over Nassau County during the past three months.

Police say Shearer had left her 8-year-old and 10-week-old sons in her car. They say she denied being their mother and claimed to be the baby sitter.

Shearer will be arraigned Thursday on charges including possession of a forged instrument, identity theft and endangering the welfare of a child.

No information on an attorney for Shearer was available.
