Chris Christie may be able to snag a foul ball, but he sure can't catch a break.

The unpopular New Jersey governor was loudly booed when he caught a foul ball at the Mets game at Citi Field Tuesday, even after he gave the ball to a child behind him.

Christie, a big Mets fan, was sitting in the third row, near the New York dugout, when he caught the ball lifted by Cardinals rookie Paul DeJong during the third inning.

Fans began cheering the foul-ball catch -- until they realized it was Christie.

“Nice to see him get off the beach and to the ball park,” the announcer remarked, referring to the recent beach-closing uproar.

It also unleashed a torrent of snarky reaction on Twitter.

"True story: Chris Christie just caught a foul ball at the Mets game. Emails show he shut down the whole aisle to be sure he got it," Michael Kurth tweeted, referencing the George Washington Bridge lane-closing scandal.

"@ChrisChristie just caught a foul ball @Mets game; crowd booed. #Mets I'd say take the train home but it's prob not running. Try #GWB?" tweeted Joe Musso, packing in a double-jab at the state of deteriorating subways and the Bridgegate scandal.

A frustrated passenger is captured screaming at a LIRR worker inside a booth at Jamaica Station Tuesday evening. Riders caught in the Penn Station delays had just disembarked at Jamaica to hear a last-call announcement for an Oyster Bay train. They ran to the platform and rushed to catch the train only to have the doors close on them -- and that's when the tirade started. Read more here.

This isn’t the first time Christie has been booed at a Mets game.

At an away game against the Phillies in April, a sea of fans mocked him by wearing plastic masks of his face.

Christie is nearing the end of his second term as governor. He's facing an all-time low in approval ratings after photos showed him basking in the sun on a closed beach during a government shutdown earlier in the month.

The embattled Republican recently tried out for a spot on a popular sports talk radio station WFAN in New York. One caller told him he had done a "horrible job" and another took a jab at the portly governor's weight and said he should have driven to another beach. Christie retorted, "You're a bum" and called him one of the "communists in Montclair."
