Chris Christie Look-Alikes Flood Mets-Phillies Game After Governor's ‘They Suck' Comment

The New Jersey Republican is a diehard Mets fan and didn't have kind words for Phillies fans in a radio interview earlier this year

Gov. Christie isn't the type to eat his own words.

A dozen radio listeners wore Christie masks and held up signs taking jabs at the governor during Monday's home opener against the Republican's beloved Mets, mocking him for slamming the team on the radio earlier this year.

At the time of the February SportsNet New York interview, Christie was his usual blunt self, saying, "the Phillies suck." They're an "awful team" with "an angry, bitter fan base," he added. He also said it's not safe for civilized people to go to the Phillies' home stadium, Citizens Bank Park.

And despite the flurry of tweets of Christie look-alikes seeing eating M&Ms, holding "I love The Phillies" and "Salads Are Awesome" signs, among others, at Monday's game, the governor undoubtedly got the last laugh.

The Mets won 4-3. And Christie thanked the Philly fans for their "tribute."

"Hope you enjoyed the game as much as I did!" the governor tweeted. "Can't wait to visit again."
