Firefighters Battle Large Brush Fires on Staten Island

Fires rage for third time in less than two months on East Shore

For the third time in less than two months, firefighters are battling brush fires on Staten Island's East Shore.

The first fire was reported on Capodanno Boulevard between Sand Lane and Seaview Avenue; the second off Quintard Street and Mason Avenue, according to the Staten Island Advance.

Chopper 4 video captured firefighters battling the leaping flames on the ground as the blazing line tore through the dry grass.

By 12:45 p.m. Friday, the fires had escalated to a two-alarm response.

East Shore has experienced its fair share of brush fires over the last month and a half. A huge one ignited in the area on November 13 and another broke out yesterday.
