2 Found Dead in NJ Fire Died of “Unnatural Causes”: Police

Police say a couple found dead after a fire in Paterson last year may have been victims of a homicide.

Twenty-four-year-old Jaclyn Pruyn and 45-year-old Eddie Nelson Diaz were found in the home they shared after a fire in November.

One person was discovered dead on the first floor, and a second was found on the stairs, Postorino said. The house -- home to three people and a dog, according to a neighbor -- had his windows burned out and facade blackened by the blaze.

Police Capt. Heriberto Rodriguez said the two people died of "unnatural causes." He would not tell The Record if they were killed before the fire or by the fire. The dog also died in the blaze.

The Nov. 23 fire damaged a neighboring home and displaced at least seven people.
