Family of Slain Queens Runner Confident Killer Will be Caught

The parents of Karina Vetrano, who was murdered while out for a run in her Queens neighborhood, said Thursday they are confident police will soon have their daughter's killer in custody.

"We have a number of very strong leads and there are few suspects that are very interesting to the police," Karina's father, Phillip Vetrano, told NBC 4 New York Thursday.

"You can't run. It's just a matter of time," Karina's mother, Cathy Vetrano, said Thursday.

Their words come as police look for surveillance footage near Erskine Street and Fountain Avenue in Brooklyn. Investigators want to determine if the killer crossed the Belt Parkway near the intersection and took a bike path into the park.

The family is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer.
