More Than 750 Without Power in Chelsea: Con Edison

More than 700 customers in Chelsea have spent several hours without power Friday morning, Con Edison announced.

The customers, all on 30th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues, lost power at around 7 a.m. Con Edison said that a problem with an underground feeder cable caused the outage.

751 customers are affected by the outage.

Crews have responded to the affected buildings trying to restore service, but it's not clear when the power will come back on.

Several residents say they lost heat during the outage, which came on a day where the coldest temperatures in more than a decade were recorded across the region.
