Commuters, Rejoice! LIRR Service Back to Normal

Long Island Rail Road says normal service is back, much to the relief of delay-weary commuters.

The railroad is operating 143 trains for Friday morning's rush and 126 trains during the evening commute.

Commuters have had to endure service disruptions since Monday due to a derailment in an East River tunnel.

LIRR says repairs to the damaged track have been completed.

The damage was caused by the derailment of an empty Amtrak train on Sunday.
