A woman crossing a Chinatown street was hit and killed by an SUV Tuesday morning, police say.
The woman was walking north on Elizabeth Street at about 4 a.m. and was crossing Canal Street when she was hit by the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 64-year-old man, according to the NYPD.
She was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital after the impact and was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the SUV, which was headed west on Canal Street, stayed at the scene after the crash. He hasn't been charged with any crimes.
The NYPD is investigating the incident.
