Brothers Indicted in Last Summer's Shooting at Waldorf Astoria Wedding

Two Brooklyn brothers face weapons charges accusing them of accidentally wounding three people at a wedding at the famed Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Vladmir Gotlibovsky, 42, and Felix Gotlibovsky, 51, were indicted Tuesday in connection with the shooting incident, which occurred in June.

“Dangerous weapons have no place at a wedding reception,” said District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. “This frightening incident risked the safety of fellow wedding guests, as well as hotel employees."

Vladmir Gotlibovsky, a guest at the wedding, was carrying a 9mm Ruger semiautomatic pistol in his pants pocket when the gun discharged, according to court records. The bullet grazed his leg and hit the floor.

Shrapnel from the bullet injured a wedding guest and two hotel employees.

Police say Vladimir Gotlibovsky, who had a permit to carry the gun, then gave the weapon to his brother, who had no permit. His brother left the hotel, but police caught up with him at his residence and seized the weapon.

The indictment charges Vladmir Gotlibovsky with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and six counts of third-degree assault. His brother is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and tampering with evidence.
