FDNY: No Injuries Reported in Bronx School Fire

Officials say no one was injured in a fire that prompted the evacuation of a Bronx public school.

A fire department spokesman says the blaze broke out around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday on the third floor of the five-story Accion Academy at 1825 Prospect Ave.

It was out about an hour later.

City schools spokeswoman Marge Feinberg says the fire started in a classroom and damages are being assessed.

According to the city Education Department's website, Accion Academy serves about 180 students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

The site says students usually go home around 2:30 p.m. but some stay on an extended schedule until 3:07 p.m.

Feinberg says the building was dismissed on time Wednesday.
