Attacker Climbed NYC Fire Escape, Forced Pregnant Woman to Touch Him: NYPD

Police are looking for the man they said sneaked into a pregnant Bronx woman's apartment using the building's fire escape, then forced her to touch his privates.

The woman was inside her apartment near Taylor Avenue when the suspect climbed through a kitchen window at about 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 6, according to the NYPD.

Once inside, the man forced her to touch his penis. Police said the man then masturbated and left using the fire escape.

The woman went to Jacobi Hospital for evaluation, but didn't suffer any lasting physical injuries.

A woman who said she comforted the victim afterward told NBC 4 New York that the the 20-year-old had just moved into the apartment the day of the attack. The woman said the attacker forced the victim to take off her clothes and was going to rape her until he saw that she was pregnant.

"I just stayed with her to try to calm her down," said the woman.

The man was caught on camera around the time of the attack and is wanted on attempted rape charges.

Stunned neighbors want security in the building beefed up.

"More alarms on roofs, just so that they can cover themselves in case anything happens," said a man named Ty.

"As far as someone creeping up a fire escape and trying to rape someone, that's unheard of here," said a neighbor named Juan Perez.
