Bears Spotted at NJ High School, Students Ordered to Stay Inside

Students at one New Jersey school were told to stay inside Wednesday morning after a pair of bears were spotted meandering about campus, authorities say.

The bears wandered around the south side of Watchung Hills Regional High School in Warren, the district’s superintendent confirmed.

The animals eventually left, but the district locked all doors as a precaution. Students have been told to stay inside the building and no classes are being held outside Wednesday.

The district said that students who had to leave early would be escorted to their vehicles by security personnel.

School security and Warren police officers monitored the exterior the building for the rest of the day and at dismissal, the district said.

It’s not clear if after-school activities were affected.
