A 4-month-old girl died after being taken to the hospital from a home day care center in Connecticut, Norwalk Police Department officials said. 

Police were dispatched to the day care on Hunters Lane Wednesday afternoon, authorities said. Dispatchers told responding officers that CPR was in progress.

Officers and fire officials on the scene initiated medical assistance, police said. The infant was then transported to Norwalk Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. 

No other details were immediately available. The Special Victims Unit is investigating.

NBC Connecticut attempted to speak with the people inside the daycare as well as with neighbors, but no one wished to comment.

NBC also reached out to Norwalk Mayor Harry Rillings for additional information, but the mayor did not immediately respond.
