A 10-year-old girl and her mother were found dead in the Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx on Saturday, police said. A man was critically injured with a gunshot wound to his head.
The girl, Heaven Ross, and the woman, Linda Manigualt, 34, were declared dead at their home on Belmont Avenue, just seven blocks west of the Bronx Zoo, police said.
It wasn't clear how they died, but the NYPD said they weren't shot and they didn't have any outward trauma.
Three other kids were at the home and called a relative who alerted authorities, police said. The victims were found shortly after 1:30 p.m.
The man, age 32, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital. His gunshot wound was believed to be self-inflicted, police said.
Neighbors said they lived on the top floor of a three-story home and they were new to the neighborhood.
