16-Year-Old Found With Assault Rifle Under Coat in Brooklyn: PD

A 16-year-old boy is facing gun charges after the NYPD says three cops in Brooklyn saw him trying to hide an assault rifle under his coat.

Officers Jared Delaney, Conway Hughes and Brian Alexander were dressed in plain clothes and on patrol in an unmarked police car when they spotted four people near Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Willoughby Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant at about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

A large bulge was sticking out of one of their coats, so the three officers approached the group, according to police.

The bulge turned out to be a 9mm Kel-Tec Assault rifle wrapped in a nylon bag and strapped to the 16-year-old’s chest, cops said.

The 16-year-old was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of stolen property.
