The locavore movement makes sense in Oakland, say, or Portland, Ore. But how exactly do you eat food produced locally when you live in the country's largest, most garden-unfriendly metropolis?
That's the question on the (heh) table at Farm to Table: New York City's Local Food Movement at the Museum of the City of New York tonight. The roster of speakers/foodworld luminaries includes Greenmarket director Michael Hurwitz, Red Hook's Added Value Farm's Ian Marvy, and Dan Barber, owner-chef of Blue Hill - all of whom will be moderated by Gabrielle Langholtz, the woman behind the Edible mags (like Edible Brooklyn, whose new Spring issue is out now and makes us want to eat a toad-in-the-hole right now). At $12, the event is cheaper than most entrees in town. Come hungry.
