Lutz & Patmos Going Their Separate Ways

Sad news for the chic admirers of high-quality and inventive knitwear, Lutz & Patmos will close their ten-year-old label at the end of the year.

Tina Lutz and Marcia Patmos worked together for a decade designing their popular stellar cashmere collections after they met designing for Barneys.  Over the course of their tenture revolutionizing impeccable and beautiful, yet completely realistic and wearable, not to mention socially and environmentally conscious fashion, the duo tapped guest designers from Jane Birkin to Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Patmos will launch M. Patmos for pre-Spring and oversee creative direction for Leroy & Perry contemporary sportswear line Lutz & Patmos created in 2008.  Lutz plans to continue design and brand consulting, as she has for A.P.C., Calvin Klein and Issey Miyake in the past.

True to style - the understated label relied solely on strong design rather than advertising -- Lutz & Patmos released a quietly gracious statement to WWD, indicating their desire to explore other creative projects and nothing more.  On the bright side, there is a sale currently going down offering 50 percent off the entire website, so be sure to get the goods while you still can.
