Club Monaco is Handing Out Free Cameras For Its New Blog

Club Monaco, which recently enlisted fashion photo blogger Garance Dore to shoot its fall loobook, is trying to bring out the shutterbug in all of us. Starting today through Saturday, October 30th, the retailer will be doling out 2,500 disposable cameras around bustling NYC locales—and known hotspots for style, we might add—like Union Square, the Brooklyn Flea, the Hester Street Fair, Soho to celebrate the launch of its CM Culture Club blog earlier this month.

"We wanted to create a blog that was visually exciting and reminded us of an inspiration board,” Club Monaco's VP of marketing and communications told WWD. The blog itself is a mosaic of snapshots and images by creatives, some well-known (photographer Victor Demarchalier, and Refinery29 style director Piera Gelardi are contributors), and some not—which is where the camera recipients come in.

The task at hand for anyone who gets a free camera is to shoot whatever inspires them and return the cameras to a Club Monaco store so that chosen images can be posted on the blog. Added incentive: "Street photograhers" get a 20 percent discount for handing in their cameras by November 11.
