This Weekend's Tribeca Picks: “Life in Ruins,” “Actresses” …

A survivor picks up the pieces after a Jerusalem bomb attack, a woman tries to understand what makes actresses tick, and the (triumphant?) return of Nia Vardalos

All About Actresses
Tortured actress Maïwenn sets out to make a faux-documentary about some of France's greatest actresses (including Julie Depardieu and Charlotte Rampling) as a way of exploring her own insecurities about the profession. Things get wild and weird (with fantastical musical sequences!) as reality blurs with fiction in her mind. 11:30AM, AMC Village VII.

Seven Minutes in Heaven
In this feature by Israeli newbie Omri Givon, a woman clutches at strands of memory following a bomb attack that took her boyfriend's life in Jerusalem and left her scarred. 9:30PM, AMC Village VII.

My Life in Ruins
Nia Vardalos was heralded as the fresh new voice in romantic comedy with My Big Fat Greek Wedding, but then she seemed to sort of… drift off. She's back with My Life in Ruins, a story about a young, directionless woman guiding a group of tourists around Greece who acquires some direction in the process. Exotic island locales and women adrift: Think of it as Mamma Mia without all the terrible music sequences. Richard Dreyfuss co-stars. 8PM, BMCC.
