Jason Wu Puts Fur Collection on Hold

We thought it was strange for Jason Wu to follow his Inaugural coup with a "significant fur collection" for fall 2009. Why throw oneself at the mercy of sneaky activists with no shortage of bloody-bunny costumes after attaining overnight superstardom? Wu has decided to put the collection he had planned to launch with Sara Furs on hold indefinitely. “As a result of increased interest and demand from our global retailers, we’ve decided to put our fur license on hold and concentrate on our growing ready-to-wear business,” Wu told WWD.

It's unclear if the possibility of losing Michelle Obama's support, or the PETA contingent, were also factors in this decision. Wu might just be too busy with the breakneck growth of his business following the Inauguration to launch another project. In any case, we wouldn't want to see the biggest show of his young career overshadowed by protesters. His talent should be the star of the show.
