Chopping Block Rocks! Sucks!

Reversing her judgment a full 180 degrees, Times television critic Alessandra Stanley went from loving NBC's canceled show Chopping Block to hating it in a matter of three weeks. To wit, Stanley on March 11: "NBC gives Mr. White a flattering showcase: one of the awe-struck contestants says, 'It’s like he invented food, almost.' ... In some ways the sober, earnest tone of 'The Chopping Block' is better suited to these recessionary times [than are rival cooking shows]." And then there's Stanley today: "The tone was all wrong. ... NBC, of all networks, should have known better than to toy with foodie expectations." [NYT via Eat Me Daily]
