New Food TV Shows Premiere

The food TV space is about to get a bit more crowded tonight, with the premieres of Appetite City and season two of the excellent Food. Curated on NYC life (Channel 25) tonight. First, at 8:30 p.m. former Times restaurant critic William Grimes hosts Appetite City, which aims to explore the history of New York through food, touching on everything from soul food (the subject of tonight's episode) to diners and delis.

For a double dose of documentary foodie TV, watch the small screen adaptation of the popular web series Food. Curated at 9 p.m. "Chief Storyteller" Liza de Guia compares her style to the NPR cult classic radio program This American Life—but with heady socio-economic talk and more cupcakes, locally made ricotta cheese and green market vegetables. Watch the promos for both shows below. [NYC Media]
