Academy Award-winner Morgan Freeman was involved in a serious car accident Sunday night in Mississippi, Access Hollywood has learned.
Freeman and a female passenger were driving on Mississippi Highway 32 in Tallahatchie County, when his car drove off the road, flipping several times, a spokesperson for the Mississippi Highway Patrol told Memphis television station WMC.
Freeman and his passenger were removed from the car with the jaws of life, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol.

They were taken to Regional Medical Center in Memphis via helicopter, where the actor is currently listed in serious condition, Access has confirmed.
The hospital is approximately 100 miles from where the accident happened.
Freeman won an Oscar for his work in 2004’s “Million Dollar Baby” and is currently starring in the summer’s biggest blockbuster, “The Dark Knight.”
