Beach Fossils At Brooklyn Bowl

Friday: Brooklyn Bowl welcomes Brooklyn's own Beach Fossils to the stage. The band's summery lo-fi rock and seashore-inspired name invite comparisons to the likes of Beach House, but they break from the chillwave mold with jazzy flourishes and a distortion-heavy edge. Dinosaur Feathers and Yellow Dogs open. $5 tickets here. 9 p.m.

Friday: Flyover country is left out of Barcade's "East Coast vs. West Coast" microbrew tasting faceoff. California's Lagunitas and Ballast Point do battle with Smuttynose (New Hampshire) and Victory (Pennsylvania) to an appropriately aggressive punk soundtrack. Just try to stay sober enough to render the correct suds judgment. Free. 7 p.m.

Saturday: German minimal tech-house D.J. Gudio Schneider takes control of Good Units' Dynacord soundsystem. The BlkMarket Membership wingding lost its other spinner, Jonas Kopp, for unexplained reasons. But that bad news frees up some time for Schneider, who'll now play a four-hour extended set. $17 tickets here. 10 p.m.

Going out can be a gamble, so why leave it up to chance? Stack the deck each Friday by peeping Play's Weekend Bender.
