We’ve already discussed the, er, explosive potential of labyrinthine rockers Akron/Family’s new album, S/T II: The Cosmic Birth and Journey of Shinju TNT, an expectedly psychedelic foray into the mouth of a Japanese volcano. The album, their fifth in as many years, is set for February 8 release.
In support of the record, the New York and Portland-based troupe just announced two local shows. They’ll headline the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn on February 17 and Bowery Ballroom on March 5;Jersey pop multi-instrumentalist Delicate Steve will open both shows.
As team A/F points out in a press release, the band has a history with the gleefully disheveled Knitting Factory: the band played the final show of the venue’s original, oft-ballyhooed Manhattan location. Their February stop will be their first show in the new Williamsburg location.
