Daily Context: Anna Dello Russo is Launching a Fragrance

Once a name only known by fashion insiders, Vogue Nippon's editor at large Anna Dello Russo became a kinda big deal this past year, thanks in part to her namesake blog, her endearingly zealous passion for fashion, not to mention her over-the-top ensembles—some of which have famously included fruit headpieces.

And while she's been highlighted on many a style blog, in addition to posing for fashion spreads shot by well-known photographers such as Juergen Teller, Dello Russo's latest project may be the ultimate benchmark for a nascent celebrity's transformation into a full-fledged household name: in December, Dello Russo (or ADR as she's increasingly referred to) is launching a fragrance.

The eponymous scent, a blend of creamy vanilla and almond packaged in tiny, gold shoe-shaped 10ml bottles, WWD reports, will be sold exclusively online by Italian e-commerce site Yoox.com. The decision to sell web-only was ADR's tribute, so to speak, to the Internet for the role it played in her coming into existence as a significant figure on the fashion scene.

Currently the editor at large for Vogue Nippon, the Italian-born, Milan-based ADR's impressive fashion resume includes 18 years at Conde Nast Italia, where she was a fashion editor for Vogue Italia, and later the editor for L'Uomo Vogue. However it wasn't until she started her blog earlier this year that ADR's presence became a more visible one—that, and her outrageous dressing choices, of course.

One of the few fashion figures who actually wears a full runway look as a real-life outfit—right down to the last feather—ADR is not shy about her love of shopping and all things sartorial. In addition to housing her clothes in a separate apartment next door to the one she resides in, she's also admitted to owning thousands of pairs of shoes, as well as changing outfits several times in a single day during fashion week.

Indeed, her many get-ups from this most recent Fashion Week gave photographers plenty to shoot—and for many of us fashion-geeks, tons of Halloween inspiration. So what else can we expect from the fabulous ADR, who, at 47, has proven that you're never too old to jump into the spotlight: “I want to do a record next,” she told WWD. “Everyone expects me to do a clothes line. It’s too obvious. I want to do the opposite.”
