Fashion Week Will Have “More Shows Than Ever”

In an unlikely, but refreshing turn of events, it looks like fashion week  come September will be even more packed, inclusive, and as a result, more varied than ever.

Fashion Week at Bryant Park has historically been the epicenter of style come early September, so when WWD reported yesterday that, while the week overall would have "more shows than ever," reservations are still available for the September 10-16 shows inside the tents, we were a little bit shocked, but also incredibly excited.  Younger brands (Tory Burch) are moving in while some of the big boys (Betsey Johnson, Marchesa, Carmen Marc Valvo) are spreading out across the city, leaving room for less well-known designers to show off their goods in the middle of the week's biggest marketplace.

We’re guessing (hoping!) that this season’s runway spectators will be more focused on industry decision-makers than fad-riding celebutantes, putting the fashion back in fashion week.
