Fast tracking to become as ubiquitous among the LES style set as a pair of tall riding boots is a brash, retro-inspired staple: a biker-ish leather jacket. While Rihanna's get-up for the MTV Video Music Awards may have been a little over the top, the look is zippered and distressed, often paired with contrasting layers like pretty fall florals or a crisp white button-down. Alexander Wang's coveted leather vest has been selling out at west village boutique Otte as well as Barneys (and somehow we don't mind that it bears a striking resemblence to Bryan Adams' in "Summer of '69"), or snap up the boxy style that's incredibly popular at Phillip Lim's soho flagship. Sure, leather's an investment (and probably reprehensible if you're, oh, Vegan], but come the wet-and-cold days of November, it'll prove a far more logical wardrobe addition than that dashing English-countryside-tweed-blazer you've been lusting after.
