Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade really begins in New Jersey.

The department store is moving its studio where the floats and balloons are built from Hoboken to Moonachie.

Officials celebrated the groundbreaking for the new facility on Tuesday.

Macy's Studio vice president John Piper told The Record newspaper they just outgrew the Hoboken facility.

The 40,000-square-foot converted Tootsie Roll factory will be replaced by a 71,476-square-foot building that is expected to be finished by August.

About 100 artists, builders, and balloon technicians work on the parade arrangements year-round
