6 Spanish onions, roughly chopped
3 lbs ground chuck beef
1 cup plain bread crumbs
3 large eggs
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
A pinch of mustard powder
Saute the onions for 30-40 minutes over a medium heat. While the onions are being sauteed place the ground chuck in a mixing bowl, add the bread crumbs and eggs and mix for two minutes. Add the salt and pepper and then shape 8 flat oval patties. Heat a heavy pan over medium heat and place the patties in the pan. Brown well on both sides. While the patties are browning, place the rest of the ingredients into the mixing bowl and mix. Remove the patties from the pan, add the remaining ingredients and the onions and bring to a boil. Continue boiling for 3 minutes. Put the patties back into the pan and let simmer for 20 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes.
