WATCH: Alleged Would-Be Thief Trashes Brooklyn Deli

Surveillance video shows a would-be thief trash a Brooklyn deli during a scuffle in which police say the suspect tried to slash someone with a pocket knife.

The suspect tried to take items from behind the counter of the store on Fulton Street in Clinton Hill around 8 p.m. on Sept. 7, the NYPD said.

Surveillance video shows the store clerk and two other men try to stop the suspect, who soon begins throwing items to the ground, including what appears to be a frozen drink machine, sending yellow and red liquid splashing on the floor.

The fight then continues outside the store, where the man can be seen taking out a pocket knife and attempting to slash one of the other men.

The suspect fled without taking anything from the store.

Police released surveillance video of the man, who they say is in his early 20s. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
