Fuel was seen pouring out of a plane as it taxied at Newark Airport on Tuesday night, officials confirmed.
Video posted to Twitter by a user named Rachel shows the fuel gushing out of the United plane.
“How not one crew member saw this is beyond me,” Rachel tweeted. “Thank god we were lookin out the window at take off.”
United confirmed that United Flight 170 was preparing to fly from Newark to Venice, Italy, just before 7 p.m. when the plane started leaking fuel, United said in a statement.
The plane returned to the gate and the flight was later cancelled, United said.
The airline said it provided customers with hotel accommodations before their rescheduled flight to Venice.
