Discover New England's executive director, Sue Norrington-Davies, said the group promoted Connecticut for free for six months. But she said the board decided early this year to stop after Connecticut eliminated its budget for tourism marketing and couldn't pay the $100,000 in annual dues.
Now, Connecticut is just a white spot on a map on Discover New England's website--leaving out kitschy Mystic, the luck (good or bad) Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos, and the apizza on the streets of New Haven.
Discover New England, based in New Hampshire, was formed in 1992 by the governors of all the New England states.
