Tornado Warning for Fairfield, Conn.

A tornado warning is in effect for Fairfield County in Southern Connecticut.

At 2:58 p.m. the National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Sherman. The storm was moving Northeast at 35 miles per hour.

The storm may also produce destructive straight winds.

The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement, according to the National Weather Service. If you do not have access to a basement seek shelter in the interior of a building's lowest floor.

The tornado warning will remain in effect until 3:30 p.m.
