Bronx Teen Who Allegedly Punched, Pushed NYPD Officers Arraigned

The teen who allegedly punched one NYPD officer in the head and hit and knocked another to the ground as they responded to a family dispute in the Bronx was arraigned late Saturday, police said.

The two officers were taken to the hospital following the alleged assault Friday afternoon at an apartment on the Grand Concourse, according to police.

A mother in the apartment had an order of protection against her 16-year-old son and wanted him removed from the home, police said.

The mother said she and her son had been fighting when he picked up her sofa and threw it down a flight of stairs and then into a garbage dump, according to a criminal complaint.

When the two officers told the teen he couldn't leave until they finished their investigation, he hit one of them in the head multiple times, causing her to fall and hit her head on tile flooring, the criminal complaint said.

When the second officer attempted to arrest the teen, he said something like "Get off me!" and hit her in the face and then shoved her to the ground, where she fell on top of the other officer, police said.

The 16-year-old then allegedly ran from the apartment, but was located by police after a search.

He was arrested on a number of charges, including assault on a police officer, felony assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, police said.

He was freed on $30,000 bond and will be back in court on April 30.

The two officers were taken to Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx.

The first officer was in stable condition Saturday. The second officer suffered a fracture to her left hand.
